Person Under Train, Russell Square LUL

At 1500 hours on Wednesday 4 July 1990, the Brigade was called to a person under a train at Russell Square underground station.
The incident was attended by the Pump and Emergency rescue Tender from Euston Fire Station. Sub O Terence Gall and Ff Andrew Sterling located a man lying face down in the track underneath the third car of the train. The injured person was seen to be conscious and moving. The electric current had been turned off. Sub o Gall and Ff Sterling crawled under the train. Aware that the injured person had attempted suicide and might make a further attempt they held him down to restrain him whilst the traction current was restored and moved the train clear.
The man was subsequently removed to hospital suffering from head injuries.
For there actions displayed in the extrication of the casualty the Chief Officer's letter of congratulations was awarded to Sub o Gall and Ff Sterling.
