I am the other mum involved, mother of Emily and Edward
who came round today. Thankyou so much for the wonderful reception you
gave them today, they were delirious with excitement when they got home,
telling me what happened. I will read your letter to them tomorrow, I
think they will feel very proud!! I expect we'll be having a lot of firefighting
games at home for a while.
I'll tell the school about the website, and I think -hope-you may get
some more pictures and appreciation.
You do all do a fantastic job, so we'll all be waving...!
Best wishes,
Tessa Storey
Hello Euston Fire station
You were very kind to my son Harry on 23 December by showing
him
around the station. He loves fire engines and loves this site.
Thank you so much for your excellent work.

Good morning
Last week a few of my friends and I came into the station
and some lovely men showed us around.Attached are some photos that were
taken that I thought might make you laugh, after all it was a fantastic
hour!! Again thanks for the opportunity to look at the station and for
being so nice to us. I know we all really appreciated it and you made
our night
Thanks & Kind Regards

I wanted to personally to say a BIG Thank
You for the tour of Euston Fire Station. It certainly gave me an insight
into what you do and the situations you have to deal with, it couldn't
be more removed from I what I do and where I work. I also really enjoyed
getting hands on experience with some of the equipment! It really was
the icing on the cake to my 30th birthday celebrations and has made me
the envy of all my family and friends, so much so I might need to arrange
some more tours!
Cheers again!

Thanks for sorting out the parking and
the hospitality you gave to
my wife, daughter and their friends last Saturday, they all had a great
day out in London, and really enjoyed the tour of the fire station,
and the information you gave them about the fire station.
Regards

How fantastic! I just happened to type
in the name of a book about the LFB during the war(which I am trying to
locate, I saw it at Nailsworth Glos fire station,) and find your fantastic
website. My dad was in the fire service at Euston during the war. I can
remember the dances held at the station, the appliances were put outside
and long curtains hung over the doors, us kids had a fantastic time-up
the stairs and down the pole.
The other strong memory is of Christmas parties at the Cora Hotel- we
all got a Christmas box sent from America- it contained things like soap, flannels,
toothpaste and sweets!!! The photos are fantastic and hopefully when I
am next in London I shall pay you a visit.

Hello to my brothers across the pond.
I am an Ex. Capt. from 3 fire departments on Long Island
NY.
I wonder if you would be kind enough to answer questions
that has been
bothering me for a while now. In the U.S., we keep all our hose lines
pre-connected and stored on top of the engine. Your appliances are quite
different, with everything stored in compartments. Where do you store
the hoses
and what do you do if you have a very long stretch?
Much thanks in advance and stay safe,
Melvin "6925" Davidson

Hiya back,
Our hoses come in three sizes, we have small high pressure hosereels on
each side of our pumping appliances, they are the black ones, they are
25 metres in length and pre connected to 100 metres each side. They work
up to 40 BAR.
We also carry 10 x 25metre 75 mm about 4 inch and 4x 25metre x 40 mm,
2 inch, low pressure hose / red hose. unconnected, on our appliances,
We have for larger/rural incidents a few hose-layer trucks scattered around
London, they carry a mile of red hose 90mm, 5 inch, pre connected, and
drive away from hydrants to the fire scene.
London is well equiped with hydrants on most street corners, and ive never
personaly had to lay out more than 4 lenghts to reach one.
They connect with plug-in 65mm connectors, standard across the country
so different brigades can use the same gear.
Our brigade also has water tenders/ tankers that can hold a large volume
if the need arise.
Please dont let it bother you, come to London, sleep well, your in safe
hands!

To Whom It May Concern at the Euston Fire
Station,
I am writing to see if I can find any information on my great great grandfather
John Hendey who was a fire chief at your station. I am curious if you
have any information on him or any pictures. His granddaughter-my grandmother-
is still alive and would love to find out more about him. Thank you for
your time. If you do have any information on him I would be happy to make
arrangements to secure copies. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Callie Krzyzaniak
Dear Sir,
I am a construction project manager working in Hackney,
as part of my crane plan I would like to include a section on crane driver
rescue. I can see from your website that you have had some experience
in the matter and wondered if you could pass on any useful information.
Our crane cab stands 36M high and is approximately 17M horizontally
from the nearest road access point.
Any assistance is gratefully received.
Many Thanks
Michael Valmas

Dear Euston Fire Station
Despite the inadequate forwarding address, I do hope this letter reaches
you safely. I write - rather belatedly - after seeing a brief mention
in a newspaper that your fire station has a ghost and needs an exorcist.

Hello,i am Graeme Stevens, son of Bill
Stevens who served twenty three years at Euston,i once spent a day at
the station in the 1970's with dad.Not sure you could do it now.Dad was
A division union secretary during the strike.I think he was there from
1958 to 1980.He used to ride his bicycle from our house next door to Acton
fire station to Euston, makes me sweat just thinking about it.The web site
is superb.Dad died in 1981,if he had lived into the home computer age
he would loved the site and i dare say would have gladly contributed.Keep
up the good work.

Good morning Euston,
Its good to see a fire station taking pride in what they do and who they
are. This is a message for Paul Gleeson if he is still there.
"Paul, its Si Lawrence of Class 2/96. Glad to see you are still in
the job. Its seems like a lifetime since those days at training school.
As you are probably aware, I was P.U'd a few years ago. A bit of a kick
in the nuts, but thats life. Drop me an email using this address and we
can talk more."
Take care
Si
Hi there,
Bit of a long shot this one but wonder if you can help. My dad is an ex
London FF and served at most of the old A Div station's including Euston,
he was around A Div during the 60's ,70's and part of the 80's before
transferring to Cambridgeshire fire & rescue service. Since retiring
in 1991 he has not had the best of health and more recently has undergone
major heart surgery. But due to his true grit and determination, which
I am sure is the FF still in him, he has pulled through and enjoying life.
Anyway enough of me rambling on, He always talks about his time in the
old A div as his best times of his career and often tells me of the fun
times spent particularly at Euston.Paddington and Manchester Square. He
was made aware some time back that Manchester Square had closed down,
which deep down upset him. Now for the long shot, I would like to arrange
for him to visit some of his old stations and wonder if you are able to
let him pop in for a cuppa, but I would like if possible to also arrange
one last visit to Manchester Square, do you think you or someone in the
LFB can help out if so please drop me a line.
Kind regards
Steve Lynch

By the way an excellent website
Get us an effort with Station Officer
Gary Pyle's daughter!!
She's Foxy mate! ;-)
Haha!
Hi
Firstly i really enjoyed browsing the site and it is
far better than the Soho site so one on the board for
Euston!! I live in Newark, Nottinghamshire. We have a
wholetime/retained station with 2 pumps & an RT.
Could i ask what the sp is with popping my head into
the station some time? I take it that it's a no no but
i shall be visiting London in a couple of weeks and i
know your only 2 mins from Kings Cross. Just wondered
if its allowed? I guess everyone wants to see Soho or
Dockhead but as you have an RT this interests me more
as so does Newark, but thanks to cutbacks and
modernisation we shall have lost it by the summer.

Iain (visit arranged Ed)
Hi Euston Fire Brigade
My name is Phil Stanton and I'm a fire fighter in Auckland New Zealand
and have applied to do a fire fighter exchange to your lovely part of
the world
I've been told that my best bet is to try and get in contact with someone
directly and organise a swap and then give the details to AFAC who organise
the exchanges out of Australia.
Your station website was the only one I could get hold of and this is
why I've e-mailed you guys but if no-one from Euston is interested then
would you be able to forward this e mail onto some other stations.
Here's a little information about me. I'm 26 years old with a girlfriend
who would come across with me, I'm in the process of buying a house on
the North Shore of Auckland but because I haven't got any kids my place
wouldn't really be geared up for a family so would probably suit a single
guy or a couple. I've got surf boards ,snow boards and fishing gear if
your into that stuff , I'm based at Birkenhead fire station which is situated
on the North Shore and our shifts are 2 day shifts 2 night shifts and
4 days off. I'm hoping to do the exchange around the middle of the year
but am flexible with dates.
We're definitely not as busy as you guys but if someone was keen to come
down and chill out in New Zealand for a year then give us an e mail.
Am happy to answer any questions
Cheers guys
Phil Phillip.Stanton@fire.org.nz
To all at G46 Euston,
I have just stumbled upon your website and absolutely love it. I'm a huge
fan of everything you do and i'm hoping to join when you have your next
recruitment drive. I've been on a station visit before and have got a
fair understanding of the LFB. I was just curious as to weather it would
be ok to come and spend some time at the station with you all one day.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Joe watts.
Hello
I workin the housing dept. of London Borough Of Camden.
The residents in a block of flats at XXXXX Court wants a fire officer
to visit these premises and give some advice on fire safety.
You can contact me on
dilip.shah@
Good afternoon Dilip,
We would be happy to deal with your request. I must first state that this
is an unnoficial site and not linked directly to the station.
However if you give me some details we would be able to arrange a date
and time for you,
We may also be able to fit free smoke alarms for your residents that currently
dont have them fitted and do a free home safety check that would look
specificaly at each residents individual needs.
It may also be possible to gather as a group and speak to the community
as a whole.
Please let me know which idea would most benefit you,
Ed

Hello again Euston,
Just a note to say what a good job I think you are doing in the 'Link
Pages'.
Really interesting for us 'Old un's to keep in touch. Well done
I was browsing the Photo's taken over the years feature and am very interested
in the one showing the St. Pancras railway station 'incident' in April
1941.
Can anyone shed any light on what the cause of this incident was?. Was
it an accident, or an act of war?.
I would be very interested to know about this.
Thanks

Hallo Guys,
great site of Station A23 Euston.
On the 6th of Janurary 1982 , i was a 13 years old boy ,
i visited your firestation.
I stood in London for a heartoperation at the Harleystreet Clinic and
some days before my greatest wish was real , to visit a Station of the
LFB.
I will never forgett this fantastic day on your Station
and i remember me 25 years later, at it seems yesterday. There was a lot
of friendly members of LFB to show me all the equipment
and the station, but the best of:It was a trip with your Dennis fire Engine
around the streets of Eustonroad and it was allowed for me , to put the
sirenes of the Engine.A Helmet , taped with my name "FF Frank Weyrauch
A23 Euston" and a
tournoutcoat was a present from you. It have a special place in my home
livealong.
Today i live and work in Cologne, Germany and have two sons. If anybody
of your Team in service, 25years later , please let him know.
Thanks and all the best from Cologne
Frank

as you seem to be!!

Best Wishes for 2007!

Hello Euston
When I look at this site with my glasses on and my flat screen LCD screen
it is soooo funky . The red has taken on a seperate dimension and gives
an amazing 3D look to the page ,whilst the blue just sinks about 5mm below
the surface.
Does everyone see it like this ?
